Cobra Art Company was founded in 1983 by Frans and Brigitte van Rijswijk. Son Mike joined the company five years later to help with sales in the frame shop and at art fairs. In 1997, he officially took over and his wife Jeannette became his business partner.
The inspired owners Mike and Jeannette van Rijswijk of Cobra Art Company work closely with internationally renowned photographers and artists. Together with the artists they develop modern paintings and photo art on Plexiglas of a very high quality.
The couple crossed borders fairly quickly, participating in fairs in England, France, Spain and the Middle East, among others. Cobra Art Company is now visible in 28 countries around the world. In addition to the traditional collection of original painted canvases, a collection of art photographs on plexiglass has been added. The Van Rijswijks travel all over the world looking for artists to buy work from, as well as photographers and artists to elevate the entrepreneurs' own ideas into art.
"Neither of us did any art training. We have a feel for art and know fashion and interior design trends. We like the combination between being commercial and creative the most, said Mike van Rijswijk."
Distinction is very important, according to the entrepreneur. The pair sells vintage, urban, modern, and surreal art, among other things, so that customers can choose. "From the headquarters in Veenendaal, we do that - just like my parents did - to companies," he says. But because art is for everyone, Cobra Art opened a gallery cum "brand store" in Amsterdam for consumers.
At Cobra Art Gallery, the Masterpiece Collection takes center stage. This high-end collection was created in 2014 through close collaborations with leading international artists and photographers. In the gallery you will find the magnificent art collection where exhibitions by well-known artists change monthly.
