Steve te Pas is back. And how? The man who founded the successful jeans brand Blue Blood several years ago is back on the Amsterdam fashion scene after years of setbacks and bankruptcy. The brilliantly found brand name "Good Genes" is Te Pas new jeans adventure. A chock-fresh jeans label consisting of Italian-made denims for men and women. In addition to jeans, the very tasteful and trendy collection also includes blazers, tees and cashmere cardigans. Highly segmented, improbably beautiful and designed with brilliant materials, the necessary details and a beautiful finish, as you expect from Steve. And then the eye-catching logo, a very confident rooster on high legs. Again, a brilliant find.
The store
In addition to its impressive jeans collection, Te Pas recently opened its flagship store on Albert Cuypstraat, opposite restaurant and cocktail bar Izakaya. It cannot be denied that the man has a feeling for jeans is no surprise to anyone, but that he is just as good with interiors is a pleasant surprise. The store is a feast for the eyes. Lots of natural elements, chipped walls, weathered wooden walls, leather fitting rooms, old door panels and window frames, industrial machinery, stuffed animals and a proliferation of plants wherever you look.
Jay-Z got Good Genes
Coincidence or not, it certainly helps that Jay-Z on Justin Timberlake song 'Suit & Tie' raps the lyrics; "You just got good genes so a nigga tryna cuff you". Genes here should be read as jeans, and the meaning of "cuffing" is possessing. The lyrics mean as much as that girl has good genes and Jay-Z wants to possess her. Which in turn should be read as; he must and will possess the jeans.
