Mushrooms, stuffed birds, antique wall hangings, skulls: in restaurant Lion Noir in Amsterdam's Reguliersdwarsstraat, you will be short of eyes. The extraordinary interior, designed by Tijs Murré and owner Casper Reinders, was largely scavenged at markets in Antwerp and Paris. The result is a real cabinet of curiosities, where you will feel right at home. On the first floor is the bar-lounge, where you can also eat. Behind the bar is a small museum.
The restaurant, with French-International cuisine, on the second floor is decked out in white linen, except for the old school table that is daubed with graffiti. And there is a lot to see here, too: colorful paintings, bird cages, a skeleton of a canoe and old water tanks that hold bottles of champagne. Lion Noir's beautiful garden belongs in top 5 best terraces in Amsterdam. An absolute must as soon as the sun shows itself. Here you imagine yourself in a quiet area while the restaurant is located in one of the busiest streets of Amsterdam.
