Amsterdam wants newly built neighborhoods to no longer consist solely of housing, but also to have plenty of room for sports and exercise. The Sportheldenbuurt on Zeeburgereiland is the first new neighborhood where the municipality applies this principle Skatepark Zeeburgereiland was conceived by the skate scene and local residents.
Urban Sports Zone
The brand new skate park is located in the Urban Sportzone, a skate track with different sections for beginner and advanced skateboarders, BMX'ers and inline skaters. Measuring 3,100 square meters, the concrete-lined skate park trimmed with tile panels full of street art is instantly the largest in the Netherlands.
Park
The park is also for people who do not skate, roll or bike. The park around the skate park is designed in the English landscape style with various winding paths and hills in ever-changing green environments with trees, a trim track and sports and play equipment. Public sports fields will be added to the park in the future.
No membership
The Urban Sportzone is there for everyone. It's free and you don't have to be a member. The skate park, trails, hills, running track and sports equipment are your stage.
