Hotel Arena in Oost is a beautiful complex in a piece of Amsterdam surrounded by old barracks from the Napoleonic era. The monumental building that houses Hotel Arena has had various functions since its construction in 1890. First a Roman Catholic orphanage, later a home for the elderly and in the 1980s it was converted into a youth hostel. Established designers were brought in for the renovation, the end result being a modern yet characterful restaurant, hotel, exhibition space and club.
On weekends, the Church and Garden Hall are the setting for popular dance parties, attracting many house lovers. This is not surprising, as there are top of the bill DJs behind the turntables every week. The beautiful ceiling paintings in the Kerkzaal catch the eye. Going out in this way becomes very special.
