Araki is one of the most important Japanese artists of our time. He is known for his seemingly detached bondage photographs. At the same time, his work is very intimate and personal, often closely linked to his own city of Tokyo. The exhibition "Photography for the Afterlife: Alluring Hell" at Foam offers a special reflection on the oeuvre of photographer Nobuyoshi Araki (Tokyo, 1940). The extensive exhibition features both Araki's famous earlier series and his most recent work, never before shown in the Netherlands. The unique presentation follows an international master in the autumn of his life.
